Lotus Temple

Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India is an astonishing building spread over 26 acres in a village. It got its name from its structure itself. It is the worshiping place of the followers of Bahá'í religion.( Bahá'í, the Global religious community which emphasize the spiritual unity of all mankind).

This is so famous and perfect in architectural beauty that it has won several awards and been featured in hundreds of news paper and magazine articles. This temple is opened to all regardless of religion, caste and creed. 

The structure is made up of pure white marble among the lush green landscaped gardens. Furiburz Sabha, the architect of the building is a Persian model Architect and a resident of Canada. He chose the lotus as the common symbol to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam. 

He considered lotus as a symbol of love and purity. The worship house is compose of 27 free-standing marble clad petals arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides. This building has nine doors also.

This is constructed in such a way that around the blooming petals there are nine pools of water, which light up in natural light. Early in the morning it is a spectacular site when it is flood lilted. 

This is one of the most visited buildings in the world. In the number of visitors Lotus Temple surpassed world famous monuments such as Eiffel tower and Taj Mahal. An average of 8000 to 10000 visitors are there in prayer house each day and on Hindu celebrative days and holidays number of visitors may cross thousands and reach in lakhs.

How to reach :


You can reach your destination by any means of modern transport. After reachin the nearby airport or railway station you can pick a vehicle of your choice, bus or taxi to the site.


 Delhi is well connected with domestic and international flights, to all the major cities within and outside India. Almost all the major airlines have their flights operating from Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi. Domestic Airport connects Delhi to the major cities in India.
By Train

The railway network connects Delhi to the all major and, nearly, all the minor destinations in India. The three important railway stations of Delhi are New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.

By Road

Delhi is well connected, by a network of roads and national highways, with all the major cities in India. The three major bus stands in Delhi are Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Kashmiri Gate, Sarai Kale-Khan Bus Terminus and Anand Vihar Bus Terminus. Both the government and private transport providers provide frequent bus services. One can also get government as well as private taxis here.

The site is opened on all days except Mondays and vising time is arranged according to season.
