Benefits of Vedic Maths
Vedic Mathematics is more than 10-15 times or over 1500% times faster than the normal mathematics.
How do we say this? You can test it yourself. We tested a normal student of grade 5 to calculate 98 x 97; he took the time of 60 seconds and did it correctly in the normal way.
And then when we taught him the Vedic Method of Multiplication the same person could do it in about 5 seconds. Not only did this person suddenly become more confident, bubbling with energy and high self esteem. He wanted to solve more problems which showed a remarkable increase in his interest in the subject.
The Vedic Maths methods becomes very useful for competitive exam aspirants who appear for examinations like SAT, GMAT, CAT, Banking, Engineering etc. This is primarily because of thespeed factor of vedic mathematics, as here you have to solve a maximum number of questions in a set time period.
The Vedic Maths methods are very visual. For example take the vertically & crosswise pattern. Hence once you understand the pattern of a two digit and three digit multiplications, you can extend that pattern to solving four digits by four digits or five by five digit multiplication problems.
Regular practice of vedic maths methods has a positive effect on your mind in terms of a greater degree of mental agility to do number crunching. This mental agility will help to do sums mentally from left to right. This has a positive effect on your brain. The more you exercise it, the better it continues to get.
Our brain has two parts , the left hand side which is a seat of logical thinking and the right hand side which is the seat of creative thinking. Vedic Mathematics develops the left and the right side of the brain by increasing the visualization and concentration abilities.
There is a lot which the child goes through in his maths class. The child undergoes stress, fatigue, and peer pressure especially with relation to maths. He faces and develops a phobia for maths. It slowly becomes etched in his mind that ‘Maths is difficult’ or ‘Maths is dull and boring.’ With Vedic Maths the child cultivates an interest for numbers and eliminates the math-phobia present in his mind. This goes a long way and helps the child throughout his life time.
Because of the decline in global maths education, vedic maths becomes a substitute for the traditional mental maths methods. The conventional system has clearly failed us and because of its creative approach, vedic maths tends to fascinate and has the potential to replace these methods completely, especially at the primary level.
