It is that time of the year when, if we underestimate the situation, at least three persons we know are sick. To gear up for this, we must know about certain food-drug combinations that are dangerous and can impede our recovery from sickness. Following is the list of foods which should be avoided if you are on antibiotics.

2. Dairy Products But Yogurt

Consuming milk and milk products can interfere with the effect of the antibiotics that you are consuming during your treatment. They can even be an aggravating cause for diarrhoea, which is a side effect of antibiotics.

3. Alcohol

Alcohol is not known to interfere with the effectiveness of antibiotics but can cause unpleasant side effects which include dizziness and gastrointestinal problems.

4. Acidic Foods

Foods that are acidic in nature such as tomatoes, lemons, chocolates, grapefruits and soft drinks impede the process of absorption of the antibiotics and thus, slow down your recovery.

5. High Fibre Foods

High fibre foods, such as lentils, whole grains, beans, and broccoli, are very healthy except when you are on antibiotics. These foods are known to slow down food absorption in stomach which can delay the rate of antibiotic absorption.
