Top five sea bridges in India

The only five sea bridges of India:


The land of India is surrounded by the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean, Kanyakumari is the point where the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal meet the great Indian Ocean. The Rama Setu is the sea bridge that connects Pamban Island to coast of Sri Lanka, apart from Rama Setu there are only five sea bridges located in India and one the longest one is under construction in Mumbai named as Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, a 22 km long freeway grade road bridge across Thane Creek.

The Bandra–Worli Sea Linkor Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link is the longest sea bridge of Indiaconnects Bandra with Worli across the Mahim Bay, a part of Arabian Sea. Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link is a cable-stayed bridge carries 8 lanes of traffic with total length of 5.6 kilometers.

The Pamban Bridge or Indira Gandhi Bridge connects Rameswaram on Pamban Island to rest of mainland India across the Palk Strait. Pamban Bridge is the second longest sea bridge in India with total length of about 2.3 km.

The Pamban Road bridge is runs parallel to the Pamban Rail Bridge and carries 2 lanes of road traffic. Pamban bridge constructed by the Indians over a hundred years ago is a marvel of engineering and the only surface transport link between between mainland and island of India.

There are few more sea bridges of India are proposed and planned to construct in future.
