What do Sri Lankans think about Indians?
- More down to earth than us
- More diverse multi cultured than us
- More spiritual than us
- Less literacy than us
- Caste is more prevalent than us.
- More patriotic than us
- More religious than us
- Most hate Pakistan. (We understand there are reasons for it)
- Have more festivals than us (Holi for eg)
- Have more vegetarians per capita (Great salute Indians)
- Treat visitors well same as we do
- Very similar to us in philosophies and giving random advises.
- Typical Indian English is hard to understand.
- We clearly know Hindu is a religion and Hindi is a language.
- I have great respect for India for introducing Ahimsa, Vegetarianism, Vedas, Monogamy, numbers ... etc. But at that time India was not a single country it was kingdoms and we were one of it too. Still the country produce world finest artist, philosophers, spiritualists. As Sri Lankans I don't remember we have many spiritual persons or philosophers

well let me check with my Sri Lankan friends....
So here is what a friend of mine from Sri Lanka has to say about Indians, she is a doctor and professor in Sri Lanka...
""""Before explaining how I feel about Indians, I would like to tell how I feel about India. I have been to several countries but the most colorful country I have ever seen is India.
I have never been to South India but North India is a wonderful combination different cultures which are very rich with their own values. And the country itself has many historical places to show the richness of the culture they had for more than 3000 years.
Sri Lanka is related with India in so many ways but mainly as a Buddhist country we got our philosophies and religion from India as a result of the effort of sending Buddhism worldwide by King Dharmasoke.
One other thing I really appreciate in India is music. I don’t believe there will be any other music to beat their rhythm.
In this colorful country I met the friendliest and the most out spoken people in the world. They are so kind, helpful and excellent in hospitality. They always try to talk with unknown people at least few words and be friendly.
As a doctor and a person in Public Health Indians are the most competitive colleagues I ever met. They are confident, courageous, smart and hard working.
They are very ambitious in their carrier development and achieve top levels within their younger ages comparative to us. The best thing I have observed is they are not shy to be criticized by others.
India is the only country where I don’t feel that I am in a different county, I feel so homely because of the soft hearts of people live in there.""""
