Appreciating the “miracles” of Bara Padampura, Rajasthan
After the successful darshans of Choolgiriji (Khaniyaji)and Sanganer; we arrived at our final destination for this quick trip and that was, Padampura. Padampura is a small town (around 33kms from Jaipur) and famous for the temple of miracles i.e. Bara Padampura. This unique temple is known for the beautiful and captivating idol of our 6th Teerthankar (God), Bhagwan Padamprabhuji. This idol had appeared in Vaishakh Shukla 5 V.S. 2001 and is a small idol of 2 feet and 4 inches in a padmasan (sitting) position and made of white (though now looks off-white / yellow) stone.
The Bara Padampura Temple
The miracle of this idol is that before this idol appeared, the entire village was suffering from problems of water, crops and many diseases. One day Moola Jat was digging the ground to lay the foundations of his house, when this idol just appeared. And post its appearance, a kind of miracle occurred and all problems of the village suddenly disappeared. The problems of water vanished, all diseases and death stopped and after many years the village had a good crop. Today this temple is famous for another reason too. It is said that a visit to this temple fulfills all desires and also cures people suffering from all kinds of poltergeistic problems or disturbances.

We reached this temple by midday and first decided to explore the temple complex. This temple has a huge open complex with the white circular temple at one side. This temple was built when a local charitable businessman Mr. Mahorilalji Godha donated a wide field to construct it. The main temple hall is in a cylindrical shape with a huge dome (of about 85 feet) at the top. The main idol of Bhagwan Padamprabhuji in on high shrine in the middle of the temple and there are 10 more shrines of other Gods placed around the circumference. We did a darshan of all the idols, but somehow kept getting drawn back to the main idol. There is something about this idol, that just captivates you and you just can’t help but stare at it. After a while we pulled ourselves away and then did a darshan of the smaller temples in the balcony of the temple, the feet of Bhagwan Padamprabhuji (the exact location from where he had appeared) and the 27 feet standing idol of Bhagwan Padamptrabhu in an open field in the front of the temple.

While we were still in the temple, a woman arrived from somewhere who seemed like possessed or definitely disturbed. She started screaming, shouting and rotating her head in a circular fashion and no one there said anything; it seemed like such occurences are a regular thing. It was quite a sight for us and I definitely hope this visit cured her of her demons.
After all the darshans, we went for a quick-lunch at the temple bhojnalaya and then started for the return trip to Delhi. Overall it was a good trip with some really good darshans, that definitely brought us some much needed good luck and loads of help.

Tips for the Trip –
- This shetra was amongst the few shetras where I felt that I couldn’t stay. The state of the dharamshalas seemed pretty dilapidated and they were not maintained properly. Hence I wouldn’t advice on considering staying here for the night.
- The food in the bhojnalayas here too was bad, hence please carry your own or eat before you reach here.
