Appeal for donation for treatment of rare disease 26.8.2014

AIIMS READY TO GIVE FREE SYMPTOMATIC TREATMENT TO HUNTER SYNDROME PATIENT ARIAN

New Delhi: Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan met the parents of 12-year-old Arian after CNN-IBN along with change.org started a campaign to highlight his plight. The Health Minister has referred the case to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The team at AIIMS has examined Arian and said that it will send the report to the Health Minister by Monday. AIIMS doctors said that they will also forward his report to the manufacturer of the drug. However, doctors say subsidising the drug will depend on the Centre or state government. Meanwhile, the hospital is ready to give symptomatic treatment for free. Arian is a young boy who is suffering from the rare genetic disorder called the Hunter syndrome. Arian requires a highly expensive drug for treatment and his family has been appealing for the government to subsidise this. CNN-IBN-Change.org has been drumming support to Arian's cause and donations up to Rs 18 lakh have been collected so far. Donate For Arian You can donate for Arian through either cheque or online banking funds transfers (NEFT, RTGS, and so on).
