Delhi street foods

DILLI DI GALIYAAN, DILLI DA KHAANA!

Dilli di Galiyaan, Dilli da Khaana!
'Yaar tune yahan ka samosa nahi khaaya?'

'WHAT? You've never had kulfi from this place?'

'You've never been to that XYZ paranthe wala and you still call yourself a Delhiite? Shame!'

These are the things you might have heard at some point in your life. Most of these places have been around for ages and if you are looking for the real 'Dilli'experience, you just cannot miss these!

Note: I break into a mini-macarena in my head whenever I eat at one of these places!

Sita Ram Dewan Chand, Paharganj

OH-MY-GOD. Please add these chole bathure to your 'to-eat-before-I-die' list. Oil dripping bhaturas paired withmasaledar, paneer topped cholas. Wah!There is hardly any Punjabi in Delhi who hasn't gobbled up bhaturas from this place. 40 bucks well spent.

For all the South Delhiites, Nagpal chole bhature wala in Amar Colony is the place to be.

Chaina Ram Sindhi Confectioners, Chandni Chowk
Chaina Ram has been around for over a century now. Wow, right? And you still haven't tried it? Very odd. What are you waiting for? Go. NOW! Do not leave this place without trying the Karachi halwa, kachori with aloo ki sabzi and some sweet sticky dhooda.

Natraj, Chandni Chowk
Soft cottony bhallas, topped with thandi-thandi meethi dahi and a generous amount of chutney drizzles. They also serve on of the crispiest tikkis in the town. You just cannot have one! Also, if you are a neat-freak, please look away or close your eyes and eat. Chandni Chowk is not the place to throw a fit and say 'Cheee, so dirty.'

Arjun ki pao bhaji, Model Town
The buns rubbed with a spicy masalaserved with a generous amount of butter topped oh-so-spicy bhaji. Try it. You will thank me someday!

Old Famous Jalebi Wala, Chandni Chowk
Chaashni dripping fat and gorgeous jalebissold at 50/- per plate. These are the real deal. Pair it with a glass of badaam milk and you will be transported into heaven. It's old and famous for a reason.

Roshan di kulfi, Karol Bagh

Believe me when I say that it is the creamiest kulfi I've ever had in my entire life.Thandi-thandi kulfi with a generous amount of falooda and gond. Priced at around 75 rupees, this kulfi will not disappoint you.

When in Chandni Chowk, also try out someparanthas at the paranthe wali gali. Don't even think about leaving that area without stuffing your face with some deep fried goodies.

But then again, these are my views. You might have had the best golgappas from areddi wala bhaiya near your house. DO NOT HIDE HIS WHEREABOUTS. Mention it in the comment box.

Statutory Warning: If you call golgappas 'puchkas' or 'paani puri' here, everyone around you will give you a death stare.
