Colonial Climate Never Remains The Same
Climate of Delhi
The air of Delhi in itself carries a different aroma. Round the year, in every season, the state enjoys seasonal extremities, that offers every tourist a different experience; the chilly winds reminds one of the Himalayan snow clad hills whereas the hot breezes takes one to undulating dunes of Rajasthan. Amazing, isn't it? In other words, Delhi has a semi-arid climate with high variation between summer and winter temperatures. For a perfect holiday on this colonial land, check out the details of the climate during summers and winters, before you move here to enjoy.
Experience The Weather In A Different Way
One of Delhi's drawbacks is that for more than half the year, the climate is lousy. For about 5 months - November through to the end of March - it is very good and makes for the best time to visit. April is the build up to the furnace heat of summer, and by the end of the month the ambience starts to warm up, with temperatures around 40 degree C. May and June are intolerable - roads start to melt, birds drop out of the sky and quite a few people also fail to last the distance. If you have the courage to go out, you can even experience mirage on broader roads.
July brings some relief when the heat is replaced with the enervating humidity of the monsoons. With the temperature still in its mid 30s, it's still debatable whether this is more comfortable than the dry heat of early summer. The monsoon is characterised by heavy showers each afternoon than steady all day rain. This weather continues throughout August and September, although by the end of this period the rain starts tailing off and the the temperature comes down to something tolerable.

The tourist time begins after that in October, when the temperature is quite pleasant. Although December and January can be decidedly chilly, but still it makes a nice time to hang around under the sun. You can also visit ancient monuments and serene parks for refreshment. Springtime in February and March can be a beautiful experience especially as the parks and gardens are filled with flowers of different hues and shades. Tourists can experience the beauty of the prestigious Mughal Gardens, which is open during this period.
