Watch: This is how Republic Day will look like in 2016

French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest at the parade.

January 26 parade this time is undergoing a number of changes such as non-inclusion of paramilitary forces like ITBP, CISF and SSB whereas some new features have been added to it including the dogs squad contingent of the army and a team of French soldiers.
In the wake of the Pathankot terror attack, as many as 10,000 personnel from paramilitary forces have been deployed in the city as part of security arrangements leading up to Republic Day celebrations.
French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest at the parade. “Highest possible security cover will be given in Delhi in the run up to the Republic Day and during the parade,” said a Home Ministry official.
Indian Army dogs will also march down the Rajpath after a gap of 26 years. The Army has selected 36 canines to participate along with their handlers.
Meanwhile, fifty companies of paramilitary forces were deployed for Republic Day in 2014, while 95 companies were deployed in 2015 when US PresidentBarack Obama was the chief guest. To neutralise any threat from the air, no-fly zones will be ensured in many areas of the capital.
Intelligence inputs had warned of the possibility of further terror attacks by outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed andLashkar-e-Toiba.
