It's first ever World Ethnic Day today

Conceived by Mumbai-based craftsvilla.com, first World Ethnic Day is being observed today in various countries to create awareness about our ethnic roots, heritage, civilization, anthropology, art and culture.
According the organizers of the first ever event, world is held together by its roots and we must celebrate our diversity as 'One World'. The message is to have fun, dance, music, food and party in a traditional way. "Let's go back to our roots and share with others our uniqueness. Let's be one. Let's be Ethnic," urge the organizers.
The organizers have suggested that the one simple way to participate in the celebration is by wearing your favourite ethnic dress. Other ways could be to gift ethnic goods like handicrafts, sweets and musical instruments; indulge in an ethnic party with lots of ethnic food and music; play old school games; cook a unique ethnic dish; read some good spiritual or history book on Nation's culture and civilization.
As the first ever World Ethnic Day ambassador, Bollywood star Vidya Balanhas urged people to celebrate the day with enthusiasm by embracing, donating, gifting and wearing something ethnic to go back to the roots. The organizing portal craftsvilla.com has put up a short video recorded message of Vidya Balan on the internet in this respect.
She added that she felt strongly about the dying art of handlooms and plight of artisans who were struggling to make both ends meet, and would be delighted with the opportunity to spread awareness about it." She also added that she wholeheartedly encourages everyone to embrace, donate, gift and wear ethnic on World Ethnic Day.
