Food & Drink Festival Sikkim 2016
First of its kind, Majhitar Food & Drink Festival will commence from January 22 in North Eastern state, Sikkim. The festival is said to be organized with a view to promote the landmarks of the constituency in the national and international level and to raise the thinking level in the broader way. The event is very much anticipated in the state after the public announcement made for its commencement by the West Pendam Constituency under the Chief Patron of Tourism & Aviation Minister of Sikkim Ugen T. Gyatso.
The festival is likely to be held at Majhitar School Ground, Near Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, NH 10, which is reckoned to be Gateway of Sikkim Rangpo, East Sikkim. This three-day event will be held between Jan 22-24 and the highlights of the event are estimated to be the equal participation of Bihari and Muslim communities. The Brand Ambassador of this festival is Asian Kickboxing Silver Medalist Miss Sushmita Rai who is a native of Majhitar. Sikkim Hotels & Restaurants Association (SHRA) has also confirmed their contribution in hosting the festival.
Also, promotion of Sikkim’s traditional cuisines, drinks and products are amongst the prime aims of hosting this event. One can expect to see live presentation of Sikkimese traditional foods & drinks to the visitors, sale cum exhibition stalls, traditional music performances along with musicians from different parts of the country are likely to be featured during the event. The historical Pendam Fort situated at West Pendam Constituency will also be the major attraction in this festival along with Singlebong village, which has a unique museum that preserves more antiquities that are more than 100 years old.
