Why do Israelis love to travel to India?

Irit Livne, traveled to India twice
As someone who has visited India twice I will start by saying that there are too many reasons to mention....
First, you need to understand a few things about Israelis.
Most Israelis travel shortly after their mandatory service in the army. After two to three years in the army, they want to travel far away from home. India is far.
They also don´t have a lot of money, since they haven´t started studying or working, and India is cheap.
They also want to feel as free as they can after being soldiers- and India, from its laid-back culture through its prosperous weed growth, gives them the sense of freedom they are looking for.
But above that, Israelis like to travel to places other Israelis travel to. Israel is a small country with a relatively small amount of citizens, so practically everybody knows someone who knows someone else.
So the fact that so many Israelis are there all the time makes others want to go too. They know that they will find a person who speaks their language in any place they will go to, they know that Israelis help each other out when they meet abroad, so they will always be safe. They have tons of recommendations from friends at home or random Israelis they meet on the way who tells them where to sleep and which restaurants to avoid.
You can never get lost. You will always be able to find new friends, or even people you know. It´s familiar.
Add to that the good food, the stunning sites, the different culture and colors, the calmness of India - and you've got a winning recipe.
