Guwahati Culture, Parks and Gardens:
Nehru Park at Guwahati: This Park is situated in the middle of the city and always opens for general public named on first prime minister of India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Presently for the joggers and children this park has some modification and alteration with a jogging track, playing amenities with latest swings for children. A rock garden and open air theatre is also constructed there for general public. This entertainment point is amidst other attractions of the city.
Kaziranga National Park: This national park is famous for peculiar Rhino race with one strong horn on nose. The park is situated at the place named Kohora and at a distance of 215 Km from Guwahati. The only main river Brahmputra is also flows alongside of this park. A large area of not less than 430 Sq KM is occupied by this park. This area is also declared as World Heritage Site. Various kinds of birds are seen everywhere in this area. Water fowls, fishing eagles, storks of various types are some of the major kinds of birds seen here.
Manas National Park: is located at a distance of 176 Kms from the city. Beauty of this park makes it as one of the most viewable national parks. The spread of this national park is over 391 Sq KM. This park is a Tiger Reserve too. Habitants of this park are not only tigers but water buffalo, hillock, gibbon, rhinos and slow loris etc. The thick coverage of dense forests provides shelter to charming birds like Giant Hornbills, Scarlet minivet, Pheasants and JungleFowl etc.
Gardens:
Guwahati University Botanical Garden: In the year 1982, inside the zoo a botanical garden was structured. This garden occupied an area of 82 Hectares. The garden has a variety offruit trees, herbs used for Ayurvedik treatment, shrubs for beautification of houses and parks within the zoo was established in 1982. There are 44 varieties of orchids in this garden. Closing day of the Garden is Friday.
Guwahati is also considered as a meaningful place of Hindu pilgrimage and the place is quit known for its unique, vigorous andcolorful culture. Beside its special impressive and spectacular beauty and tempt culture, there are many tourist attraction in Guwahati.
