Day 01 : Wednesday, Departure from Mumbai . The Indian Maharajah begins its journey from Mumbai, where passengers receive a traditional Indian ceremonial welcome, and are escorted to their cabins by the attendants. The evening is at leisure to get to know the train and your fellow passengers. Overnight onboard the Indian Maharajah. |
Day-02 : Thursday, Sightseeing in Aurangabad visit Ellora Caves The first destination is Auragnabad, located in Western India, and famous for the Ajanta and Ellora caves that are situated nearby. The train arrives early afternoon, after which, there is a sightseeing tour of the Ellora caves. Built between the 5th and 10thCentury, the rock cut caves of Ellora are now a Wolrd Heritage Site. The Ellora cave complex comprises of 34 caves, in different religious styles, of which 12 are Buddhists, 17 Hindus and 5 Jains. After sightseeing of Ellora Caves, drive back to Jalgaon in the evening to board the train. Overnight onboard the Indian Maharaja. |
Day-03 : Friday, Sightseeing in Ajanta Caves Disembark the train this morning for an excursion to the Ajanta caves. The Ajanta caves complex, also a World Heritage site has 30 rock-cut cave monuments which date from the 2nd to the 06th century . The Ajanta caves house paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of Buddhist religious art as well as frescos, which are reminiscent of the Sigiriya paintings in Sri Lanka. Day-04 : Saturday, Sightseeing in Udaipur As you wake up this morning, the Indian Maharajah arrives in to Udaipur, the Lake City, also known as the Venice of the East. Sightseeing in Udaipur city followed by boat ride on Lake Pichola. Overnight onboard the Indian Maharaja. |
Day-05 : Sunday, Tiger Safari in Ranthambore Early this morning, the Indian Maharajah rolls in to Sawai Madhopur, the railway station for the Ranthambore National Park. The Ranthambore National Park is one of India’s Project Tiger Reserves, and one of the best places in India to see the majestic Royal Bengal Tigers in the Wild. In addition to the Tigers, the Park is also home to more than 300 species of birds, and dozens of species of other small and large animals including Deer, Hyena, Jackal etc. Two, Game rides, one each in the morning and evening into the Ranthambore National Park are included today. Day-06 : Monday, Sightseeing in Jaipur Early morning the Indian Maharajah today rolls in to the Pink city – Jaipur. Morning visit to the Amber Fort,, where you climb the fort atop gaily bedecked Elephants. Sightseeing in Jaipur includes a visit to Jantar Mantar (the Observatory, which is now a World Heritage site), the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Evening visit City Palace followed by Gala Dinner at the Palace. Overnight onboard the Indian Maharaja. |
Day-07 : Tuesday, Sightseeing in Agra The Indian Maharaja today visits Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal. First, visit Fatehpur Sikri the deserted capital of Emperor Akbar, and then continue on to Agra. Sightseeing in Agra, includes a visit to the Agra Fort and Taj Mahal, a pristine monument of undying love, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Overnight onboard the Indian Maharaja. |
Day-08 : Wednesday, Delhi The Indian Maharajah rolls back in to the train station in Delhi, where your journey ends. |
