Being put-and-about and playing around are some of the fondest memories everyone has of their childhood. While it might be the techno-age, the charm of running around and visiting new places for entertainment still has its charm which gadgets can’t replace. The national capital is always buzzing with activity and there is something here for everyone to enjoy. With a large chunk of young population, Delhi sure has a lot to offer to its kids!
1. Appu Ghar
Appu Ghar was the first amusement park of the country, first opening it’s doors in 1984, commemorating the 1982 Asian Games. The lovable mascot of the games “Appu” was the mascot of the park. While it was running till 2008, it shut down temporarily and was reopened in Gurgaon in 2014. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer day, splashing around in the water park!
Timings – 11 am to 7 pm, Monday to Sunday, Saturdays the park is shut
Connectivity – Right next to Huda City Centre metro station on the yellow line, you can take that or take your car/bike since there’s ample parking available.
2. Worlds of Wonder
Located in Noida, Worlds of Wonder is north India’s largest amusement and water park. Boating, rain dance and a video game arcade are just some of the attractions in addition to the rides here. You can also have your birthday party here to make it a birthday you’ll remember forever!

3. National Science Centre
Established in 1992 the National Science Centre is a science museum located in Delhi. It’s definitely a treat for all those kids who love science and even for those who don’t! There are several lectures, exhibitions and competitions that are held here apart from the regular exhibits likeheritage and dinosaurs, science games, activities, human biology, fun science library.

4. Bal Bhavan National Children’s Museum and Aquarium
National Bal Bhavan is an institution aimed at enhancing the a child’s creative potential by providing various activities, opportunities and common platform to interact, experiment, create and perform. 5. Adventure Island
Located in Metro Walk mall in Rohini, Adventure Island is a place that one can visit at any age and have the time of their life! With some seriously thrilling rides, go-karting, water slides, this place is a must visit for anyone. It is definitely an amusement park of international standards.

6. Lodi Garden
It’s never to early to get a child to appreciate the beautiful architecture of the days gone by. Delhi is a city replete with historic sites with beautiful influence of the Mughal architecture and Lodi Gardens is a place where kids can frolic while seeing some of the beautiful old monuments. It makes a great spot for picnics and just general frolicking around.On any give day, lots of kids and adults can be found enjoying the park and the buzzing atmosphere.

7. National Zoological Park
The National Zoological Park is a 176 acre sprawling property with a myriad of wildlife in vast enclosures. A lot of schools take trips here to educate students about the flora and fauna. There are battery operated scooters that one can take to go around or even walk the distance. Food isn’t allowed inside but there’s a canteen in the premises. White tigers, bears, black bucks, emus and many more animals are here in comfortable environments.

8. National Rail Museum
In the heart of Delhi in Chanakyapuri is the railway museum showcasing the history of one of the oldest modes of transportation of our country. It has over 100 exhibits of real-size Indian rails. Antique furniture, literature to supplement the history of the railway is also present. There’s also a toy-train in which visitors can take a ride along the premises of the museum.

9. Children’s Park (India Gate)
The war memorial that we all know also has a fantastic children’s park next to it which is over a sprawling 10 acres of land. With various activities like swings, theatre, musical fountain, library, it’s a place where children with any interest will have fun. Boating at India Gate is also one of the main attractions, especially during the sunset when the whole area is illuminated in beautiful amber hues.

10. Old Fort
The Old Fort is one of the oldest in Delhi and was built by Sher Shah Suri. While Red Fort may be better known, the Old Fort has the sound an light show which is a treat for all! It is open all days of the week to go visit and the show happens every evening. It tells the history of Delhi in the most gripping manner possible!

11. Kingdom of Dreams
A live-entertainment theatre with new shows happening every month is something kids would definitely want to visit. 12. Salam Balak Trust Walk
The Salam Balak Trust has a guided tour of the city of almost 2 hours, conducted by children who used to live on the streets of Delhi. 16. Dilli Haat
For experiencing all of India in less than a day, Dilli Haat is your best bet. 17. Nehru Planetarium

There are many ways to see the capital city but the best way would have to be cycling through the narrow lanes where cars can’t take you, early in the morning before the city wakes up.
